The Correction Ecosystem

By the early 22nd century, traditional incarceration was deemed an unproductive expenditure. The Unified Corporations replaced it with a multi-tiered Asset Reallocation system. To the outside world, these were professional corrections; to those within the compounds, they were a slow-motion erasure of the self.

Standard Disciplinary Tiers

Tier 1: Internal Service Reassignment

Reserved for minor behavioral infractions. Employees were stripped of their titles and reassigned to Housekeeping or Food Service roles. This ensured the unruly remained within the compound walls, visible but silenced, performing the manual labor that kept the corporate machine humming.

Tier 2: The Corporate Comfort Program

A dark necessity of the high-executive lifestyle. This tier reallocated genetically undesirable employees and unwanted compound offspring into corporate-managed facilities. These sectors were designed to ensure the morale and wellness of high-ranking executives and the Regional Regiments remained at peak efficiency.

Tier 3: The Clinical Trials (Private Sector)

For persistent offenders, the corporation utilized a more discreet method of removal. These individuals were privately transferred to R&D labs for sentient bio-mimetic nanite testing and Cerebral Conduit integration.

To maintain the illusion of stability, coworkers were never told the truth. Instead, the department was issued a standard notice: the employee was taking a Deep-Cycle Reset — a catchy, corporate-approved euphemism for a long-term sabbatical. In reality, they were becoming the biological foundation for the next generation of tech.

Tier 4: The Work Camps (Blackbird & Spiritwood)

The final destination for those deemed “non-viable.” Managed by the Consortium, these camps focused on the total extraction of physical labor until the asset reached “Maximum Depreciation.” Medical neglect and harsh environmental exposures ensured that no one ever returned from a Tier 4 assignment.

The “Mandatory PTO” Protocol

The most immediate threats to corporate security were handled via Mandatory PTO. This internal shorthand for sanctioned retirement (murder) allowed Security Details to remove an asset from the ledger permanently. Their data was scrubbed, and their physical remains were moved to mass, unmarked clinical disposal sites.

Archivist’s Note (2256):

The cruelty of the 2120s was hidden behind a veneer of productivity. The term ‘Deep-Cycle Reset’ was designed to sound like a luxury—a chance to recharge and return better. But as the Archives reveal, it was a one-way trip to the R&D labs. In the end, the Corporations didn’t see people; they saw inventory with an expiration date.
