Hi art friends. I took a walk this evening around my neighborhood with my trusty Canon Rebel and 25 mm Macro lens. There are pockets of flowers scattering around a 5 block radius near my house, including a patch of rose bushes. These roses have been in this spot as long as we’ve lived in our home. Every year, the blooms get larger and more beautiful.
This one was enhanced with 2 textures from this month’s 2 Lil Owls Texture Club collections: Everyday Moments and Black Film 2.
I fiddled with the image in Lightroom a bit, applied one of the 2 Lil Owls presets, Lanai 14, exported it to Photoshop. Ran a very light high pass on a new layer and set that to soft light. Added my 2 textures. Created a new layer from visible. Fiddled quite a bit with burning the edges but it didn’t quite work. After about an hour of experimenting, I added a color filter layer Deep Red. It still needed a little something, so I dragged the high pass layer to the top of the stack and that brought back just enough detail on the flower to make it pop from the background.
I took quite a few photos from this short 20 minute walk. Expect more macro flowers when you see them.
