The first week of August, I spent a few days with my mom in Eastern Washington. Our plan was to take a road trip to Crater Lake. I’ve never been and I’ve heard it’s beautiful. So I packed my camera and Adrift Ellowyne and drove over Saturday morning. After dinner, I get a text that we might need to evacuate due to wild fires, so we anxiously watched the news. Not only were we surrounded by wild fires, but Crater Lake had one as well.
Needless to say, we didn’t make it to Crater Lake; instead, we took little day trips around the Yakama Reservation. One of trips was to the National Wildlife Refuge just outside of Toppenish. We were followed around by dragonflies, who were too quick and small to photograph. Heard a lot of birds but didn’t see them. Here is a photo of Ello and one of the many little birdhouses scattered about the refuse. This one was empty.
